The Association of Labour Providers (ALP)

Labour Providers play a vital role in the agriculture and food supply industries.
Meeting the need for a reliable, flexible and high quality supply of labour, the company has rapidly become established as an effective trade association with a growing membership.
It is the representative voice for the industry on legislation, regulatory and other matters. An important role as a new regulatory body for the industry is in the process of being established.
It promotes high standards and good practice. Compliance to a strict Code of Practice drawn up under the auspices of the Ethical Trading Initiative is a condition of membership.

The Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA)

The Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) was established on 1 April 2005 to curb the exploitation of workers in the Agriculture, Horticulture, Shellfish Gathering and Associated Processing and Packaging Industries.
By licensing Gangmasters, everyone in the food supply chain will ultimately be able to distinguish the legal operators from the illegal ones.
We know that many Labour Providers are legitimate, hard-working businesses and we will work with the industry to bring other Labour Providers up to these standards, while driving out those who refuse to conform to the law.
Ethical trading and production is an issue on our own doorstep. It is unacceptable that the food on your table could have been picked, produced or packed by an exploited worker.
The GLA has been given the powers to curb this abuse in the UK, and we are determined to use them.
Vital was one of the first Labour providers in the UK to be awarded the new Gangmasters Licensing Authority Licence.
